Despite recent advances in the accessibility and affordability of surgery for children in low- and moderate-resource areas, a large need for short-term service activities in many areas of the world remains. Skills in pediatric anesthesia are particularly well-suited to meet these needs when paired with thoughtful service platforms in close cooperation with local health systems. There are many excellent organizations involved in this work. In this section we have included resources to help plan and execute successful short-term service trips, particularly those that incorporate a significant teaching component.
